Next up after Paracas was Huacachina, I was planing on staying for close to two days but one afternoon/evening was enough for me.
Huacachina is an oasis in the middle of the desert just beside city of Ica, where I stayed. Huacachina is located in the Sechura Desert.
The place is truly beautiful but it’s very touristy, dirty and noisy. There’s dune buggys going up and down the dunes non stop and further away in the dunes there’s a lot of garbage, which is sad, but I heard they are working on cleaning it.
It still an amazing place to see, no doubt about it, it’s well worth a visit. There’s dunes for miles and if it’s your thing you can sandboard up and down those dunes. If you don’t like sandboarding, the ride in the dune buggy is a pretty nice thrill!
Here’s one dune with the city of Ica in the background
Dune buggy racing away to go up a dune, feels like a roller coaster
Some buggys and people hanging out
Bottle in the desert…
Dunes
A couple enjoying the sunset on the dune facing the city where you can also see the entrace of the city
The village at dawn
Dunes in the night, stayed up there until dark
And you can almost see the milky way on this one
